GS1 Jordan
History
In 1997,
Jordan Numbering Association
(GS1 Jordan) was formed as a not-for-profit
association under the umbrella of JEDCO and signed the membership agreement with
GS1 Global Organization in Brussels.
Since then, GS1 Jordan has become
the official Jordanian body to administer a global, multi-industry supply chains
by uniquely identifying products, shipping units, assets, locations and services.
It facilitates electronic commerce processes including full tracking and traceability.
In 2002, The Management Board of JEDCO had approved
the Foundation of GS1 Jordan as a not-for-profit association Owned by JEDCO.

Our aim is to develop standards and services that allow our
members to implement supply chain practices which operate and integrate seamlessly
with their trading partners.
Our mission is built on the longstanding commitment to serve the
needs of our members by driving the adoption of global GS1 supply chain standards
that add value to Jordan business through the development of user-driven and tested
standards and related services. This partnership is built on a foundation of consensus
and cooperation, giving members a true voice in every stage of development and maintenance
of the global GS1 Standards.

Our
business
GS1 Jordan provides tools and supports that enable
Jordanian Companies to manage their supply chains and trade processes far more efficiently.
Specifically, the main responsibilities are:

The allocation of unique numbers
- the basis for the complete range of standards; GS1 Jordan maintains the Jordan
number bank and ensures that our members have the help and support they need to
obtain maximum benefit from using the global GS1 Standards.

Participate in the global development and management of GS1 Standards, representing our members’ needs and
ensuring these standards are accessible and affordable to the widest range of companies,
from the very largest to the very smallest.

Supplying information on the standards and the continuing evolution of the system.
Also providing training,
seminars, workshops on numbering, bar coding, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI),
Electronic Product Code (EPC) .
The EAN.UCC System is a common language of electronic
identification and communication that can be used by any organisation regardless
of size, industry or location. We provide access to these standards for members,
offering services that enable them to manage their key business processes more effectively.
The use of these standards drives cost out of the supply chain, improving productivity
and efficiency.
