5 Simple Steps to Start Synchronizing Data
Step 1: Obtain your Company Prefix (GTIN) & GLN by Joining GS1 Jordan

Your organization needs to have a company prefix (GTIN) and a Global Location Number (GLN) in order to synchronize data. If you currently do not have a GTIN and/or GLN, you should contact GS1 Jordan. When you join GS1 Jordan, your organization will be assigned a company prefix and a number that will uniquely identify your company.

Step 2:
Subscribe to GS1 Jordan Data Pool (JDP)

Before you can access Data pool services, you must complete and submit a Mema Data Pool Trading Partner Service Agreement (TPSA). The TPSA is a contractual agreement to become a member of the Mema Data Pool community. Once the application has been completed and GS1 Jordan has received payment, you may begin utilizing various tools to assist you in the implementation of Mema Data Pool services. After you subscribe you will be given a User ID and Password to access Jordan Data pool.

This team will manage the process within your company. GS1 Jordan recommends that your team include both technical and business resources.

Technical resource:
• Manages day-to-day functionality

Frequently Ask Question (FAQ)

Q. What is a GTIN and who is the owner?

A. A Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) is the globally unique GS1 System identification number for products and services. A Global Trade Item Number may be 8, 12, 13, or 14 digits in length using the EAN/UCC-8, UCC-12, EAN/UCC-13, or EAN/UCC-14 Data Structure respectively. A company or product that is GTIN-compliant is able to process, store, and communicate with trading partners using all Global Trade Item Numbers, whether 8, 12, 13, or 14 digits. The owner of the GTIN is the owner of the GS1 Company Prefix, the number assigned to the GS1 Jordan by GS1 Global Organization.

Q. What classification scheme does Mema Data Pool use?

A. Mema Data Pool uses the Global Product Classification code (GPC). GPC is the classification code that is used within the Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN).

Q. What is the definition of optional and mandatory attributes in Mema Data Pool?

A. Optional, in the XML context, means that particular attribute does not have to be populated. Mandatory means that the attribute must be populated. There are some attributes that are conditional, i.e. they are only mandatory if other data is present. An example of conditional attribute is if you specify item weight, then you must also specify the weight units.

Q. Why should I fill in an optional field?

A. It is recommended that all relevant optional fields be populated in the event another trading partner requires the information in the missing field. Providing as much optional data as possible increases the probability that a recipient will accept the published data rather than reject it.

Q. Will I need to change my internal classification codes?

A. No, it is suggested that trading partners build a cross reference to the GPC classification codes as part of the interoperability and data synchronization process.
