Bar Code Testing Service

GS1 Jordan offers a free Bar Code Testing Service which comprehensively tests all aspects of EAN and UPC item numbering and barcoding. 

GS1 Jordan welcomes samples of all bar codes symbols supported by EAN and UCC for testing and will provide a detailed report on all samples received. 

Members are invited to submit samples of labels or packages incorporating the bar codes for analysis to determine their scanning ability, as well as the bar codes compliance with the EAN/UCC specifications and guidelines. 

When submitting samples, members are requested to forward products in their "final retail form" together with loose labels or unformed packaging. This allows for greater accuracy when making assessments on colour, due to the impact of "show through", as well as location factors. 

All samples are tested within 2 days of receipt by GS1 Jordan. However, if Bar Code Verification Reports are required "on the spot" or by a specific date, GS1 Jordan will make every effort to fulfil these requests. 

The Testing Service comprehensively tests all aspects of the bar code using diagnostic equipment which identifies most problems with regards to the construction of the bar code symbol. 

Bar codes should conform in every respect to the EAN/UCC specifications and guidelines. We believe the specifications are explicit, and that if they are followed, together with routine quality control consistently readable bar codes can be produced.
